The Faculty

The NAMTHS faculty consists of highly trained professionals who possess both an extensive knowledge and experience within their chosen profession.

Janet Leidy, NCTMB, CMT, B.A.

Founder and Campus Director of the National Academy of Massage Therapy and Healing Sciences. Janet is a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist who also graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Rowan University (formerly Glassboro State College). Janet has an extensive teaching background in Massage Therapy. She successfully served as an instructor as well as the Director of Massage Therapy for another massage therapy educational institution from 1999 to 2002. In addition to her basic massage therapy diploma training, she also has advanced training in Myofascial Release (Barnes Method), Myofascial Unwinding (Barnes Method), Cranio-Sacral Therapy (Upledger Method), Equine Myofascial Release (Barnes Method), Touch for Health Levels 1-4 (John Thie, DC), Certified Touch for Health Instructor (International Kinesiology College, Zurich Switzerland), Medical Massage (Turchaninov Method), Hot Stone Massage (Nature’s Stones, Inc.), Manual Lymphatic Drainage (both Vodder and Chikly Methods), Active Isolated Stretching (Mattes Method), MariEl healing (3rd Level-Ethel Lombardi), Reiki I and II (Usui system), Trigger Point Therapy (Dr. Joseph Maio), Certified CPR/First Aid/AED Instructor (American Red Cross), and Insurance Billing (Luther Method). In addition to teaching, maintaining her Campus Director duties at the Academy, and seeing clients in her office, Janet is currently pursuing her Master's degree in Acupuncture from the Won Institute of Graduate Studies in Glenside, PA. She is scheduled to graduate in August of 2009.

Janet serves the Academy as Instructor for: Massage Therapy: Theory and Technique; Small Business Management for Massage; Corrective Muscle Therapy Techniques; Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathology for Massage; Muscle Identification, Palpation, and Kinesiology; Cranio-Sacral Therapy/Myofascial Release; Touch for Health; Sports Massage Basics; Basic Aromatherapy; and First Aid/CPR/AED and HIV Awareness.

Janine Nyce, NCTMB, CMT, B.S., NTS, Reiki Master

Janine is the Assistant Campus Director of the National Academy of Massage Therapy and Healing Sciences and Director of Sciences. Janine, who is a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist, comes to the Academy with an extensive educational background. She completed 1000 hours of training at the New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics where she studied massage therapy, reflexology, CranioSacral, Polarity, Reiki, Bach Flower Remedies, Shiatsu, and herbology. Janine has additional training in Core Zero Balancing (Upledger/Cullinan). She has a Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine from the University of Maryland and managed a cadaver lab in Australia. She has over 20 years experience of successfully treating clients/patients in her private practice called Nyce Natural Therapeutics.

Janine serves the Academy as Instructor for: Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathology for Massage; Muscle Identification, Palpation, and Kinesiology; and Introduction to Shiatsu and Eastern Techniques.

William J. Mullen, NCTMB, CMT

Bill who is a graduate of the National Academy of Massage Therapy and Healing Sciences and a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist, completed 600 hours in Massage Therapy which included Swedish Massage, deep tissue techniques, infant and prenatal massage, medical massage, and sports massage. Bill has advanced training in Touch for Health (Thie) and is a Reiki practitioner. Bill is a former PA Emergency Medical Technician who ran two private ambulance companies in Philadelphia. In addition to his work with the Academy, Bill also sees clients in his private practice, Renew Body and Mind in Skippack, Pennsylvania.

Bill serves the Academy as Instructor for: Massage Therapy: Theory and Technique; Supervised Lab Practicum; Small Business Management for Massage Therapy; Corrective Muscle Therapy Techniques; and Sports Massage Basics. Bill also serves the academy as Executive Assistant.

Sara Plummer, CMT, B.S.

Sara, who is a graduate of the National Academy of Massage Therapy and Healing Sciences and a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist, completed 600 hours in Massage Therapy which included Swedish Massage, deep tissue techniques, infant and prenatal massage, medical massage, and sports massage. She has a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from Gwynedd-Mercy College. Sara is the owner of Sunrae Massage in Montgomery County, PA.

Sara serves the Academy as Instructor for: Massage Therapy: Theory and Technique; Small Business Management for Massage; Corrective Muscle Therapy Techniques; and Sports Massage Basics.

Rebecca Murphy, NCMTB, CMT, ESMT, B.S.

Rebecca, who is a graduate of the National Academy of Massage Therapy & Healing Sciences, completed 600 hours of training in Massage Therapy which included Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Techniques, Medical Massage, Sports Massage, CranioSacral Therapy, Myofascial Release, Shiatsu, Polarity, and Touch for Health. Rebecca has a Bachelors of Science in Agronomy & Environmental Science from Delaware Valley College, and is also a Certified Equine Massage Therapist. In addition to her work with the Academy, she currently travels in Bucks County to see her four legged clients.

Rebecca serves the Academy as: Canine/Animal Massage Therapy Instructor

Mike Wanner, Reiki Master, Ordained Minister, Pastoral Care Associate

Mike comes to the Academy with an extensive background in Reiki, Energy Healing, and Metaphysical studies. In addition to being an ordained Inter-Faith Minister, Mike is a Master in six Reiki disciplines: Usui, Gendai, Karuna, Karuna Kei, Sekkem Seichim, and Komyo-Kai. He is also a Master Teacher in Integrated Energy Therapy and Magnified Healing. Additionally, he is a practitioner of Emotional Freedom Technique. Mike has studied Reikiand other energy healing methods extensively in the US, Japan, Denmark, and Canada. He is a member of the American Society of Dowsers and the Ozark Research Institute. In addition to his work with the Academy, he currently sees clients in his practice in Philadelphia and performs Pastoral care and counseling as a Pastoral Care Associate at Frankford Hospital in Northeast Philadelphia.

Mike serves the Academy as: Instructor: Reiki and Intuitive Integration Techniques.

Megan Chapin, CMT, NCTMB, CRP, B.S.

Megan, who is a graduate of the National Academy of Massage Therapy and Healing Sciences and a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist, completed 600 hours in Massage Therapy which included Swedish Massage, deep tissue techniques, infant and prenatal massage, medical massage, and sports massage. Additionally, she holds certification as a Reflexologist having graduated from the 124 hour Reflexology Diploma Program at NAMTHS. She has a Bachelor of Science in Animal Biotechnology and Conservation from Delaware Valley College. Megan has a practice in Carbon County, PA..

Megan serves Academy as Instructor for: Introduction to Reflexology; Reflexology: Theories and Application; Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Reflexology; Clinical Rotations for Reflexology, Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathology for Massage; and Muscle Identification, Palpation, and Kinesiology.

Jaclyn McGinley, NCTMB, CMT, B.S.

Jaclyn, who is a graduate of the National Academy of Massage Therapy and Healing Sciences and a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist, completed 600 hours in Massage Therapy which included Swedish Massage, deep tissue techniques, infant and prenatal massage, medical massage, and sports massage. She has a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Lock Haven University.

Jaclyn serves the Academy as: Clinical Supervisor.

Brittany Maloney, CMT

Brittany, who is a graduate of the National Academy of Massage Therapy and Healing Sciences and a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist, completed 600 hours in Massage Therapy which included Swedish Massage, deep tissue techniques, infant and prenatal massage, medical massage, and sports massage. She currently does massage at a busy chiropractic office in Montgomery County.

Brittany serves the Academy as: Clinical Supervisor.

Fran Server, CMT

Fran, who is a graduate of the National Academy of Massage Therapy and Healing Sciences and a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist, completed 600 hours in Massage Therapy which included Swedish Massage, deep tissue techniques, infant and prenatal massage, medical massage, and sports massage.

Fran serves the Academy as Instructor for: Supervised Lab Practicum.
