Leave of Absence Policy

The National Academy of Massage Therapy and Healing Sciences discourages Leaves of Absence (LOA), but acknowledges the need for them in certain emergency situations such as death of a family member, family emergency or personal illness. Guidelines are as follows:

  1. No more than one LOA is allowed per program.
  2. The student must submit a request in writing to the school Executive Director for approval.
  3. A LOA is considered absence from class for more than thirty days, or the beginning of the next block of instruction, whichever is longer, provided the next block of instruction does not begin more than one hundred days after the beginning of the LOA.
  4. If the student fails to return after the end of the LOA or the first day of the next block of instruction, he/she will be deemed to have terminated enrollment at school. NAMTHS will make a refund payable within thirty days if one is due. The refund is calculated from the student's last date of actual class attendance.
